But maybe you’re not the bow type – or it’s just a little too feminine for your fiance. No worries! Today I have some ideas for ways to use silk ribbon in your wedding stationery suite!

Silk ribbon is one of those details that can take wedding stationery from beautiful to breathtaking. With its soft texture, gentle sheen, and elegant drape, silk ribbon is the perfect finishing touch for both your invitations and day-of stationery. Whether you’re dreaming of a romantic, vintage look or something timeless and chic, silk ribbon adds a touch of luxury that’s hard to beat.

When we’re talking about using ribbon in your invitation suite, the traditional option is a pretty, wide silk ribbon, tied in a big fluffy bow (shown here in the Veranda Suite). This is the perfect choice if you’re looking for a romantic and sweet way to hold all the pieces of your stationery together. The Knot

Maybe you love the idea of a nice, wide ribbon, but a bow just isn’t for you. What about a knot? I know that doesn’t sound quite as pretty – but look how gorgeous it is here in the Classically invitation suite! Plus, a knot lays flatter in your envelope which means you could save a bit on postage. (It’s also much easier to tie if you’ve opted to DIY the ribbon assembly!)

You can do the same with a thinner ribbon too. This one is a raw-edge (or frayed) silk that gives it a bit more of an organic feel, as seen in the Haven invitation suite.

The Mini Bow

Okay, I know this is still a “bow”, but by using a skinnier ribbon the look changes a bit. I love how the dusty blue silk ribbon pulls in another shade of the couple’s accent color in this invitation suite!

With a Tag

Wrap a piece of silk ribbon around your invitation suite a few times and add a small tag (maybe with your monogram or your wedding website address?) This is a great way to keep a small card from getting lost in the envelope!

With a Gatefold Card

Use ribbon to hold your custom gatefold card closed! This is a nice alternative to a seal or belly band securing the gatefold.

 

 

Using ribbon in your Day of stationery

Silk ribbon doesn’t have to be limited to your invitations! Bringing it into your day-of stationery is a beautiful way to create a cohesive look throughout your wedding. Here are some ideas for using ribbon on programs, menus, and other details.
