There is something so romantic about silk ribbon! Wedding invitations can be wrapped up with a bow, making your guests feel like they’re opening a present when they get your invitations in the mail. But maybe you’re not the bow type – or it’s just a little too feminine for your fiance. No worries! Today I have some fun ideas for ways to use silk ribbon in your wedding stationery suite!
The Traditional Bow
When we’re talking about using ribbon in your invitation suite, the traditional option is a pretty, wide silk ribbon, tied it in a big fluffy bow. This is the perfect choice if you’re looking for a romantic and sweet way to hold all the pieces of your stationery together. This 1.25″ wide ribbon is available in a variety of colors, from white to blush pink to black! (Check out all the options here)
The Knot
Maybe you love the idea of a nice, wide ribbon, but a bow just isn’t for you. What about a knot? I know that doesn’t sound quite as pretty – but look how gorgeous it is! Plus, a knot lays flatter in your envelope which means you could save a bit on postage. (It’s also much easier to tie if you’ve opted to DIY the ribbon assembly!)
The Mini Bow
Okay, I know this is still a “bow”, but by using a skinnier ribbon the look changes a bit. I love how the black silk ribbon gives this invitation suite a bit of a vintage feel!
With a Tag
Wrap a piece of silk ribbon around your invitation suite a few times and add a small tag (maybe with your monogram or your wedding website address?) This is a great way to keep a small card from getting lost in the envelope!
With a Wax Seal
Use a custom wax seal to hold the ribbon in place around your wedding invitation! I love how this layout incorporates the ribbon and wax seal into the design, rather than as a finishing touch. Such a great way to add texture and depth to your wedding paper!
Using ribbon in your Day of stationery
Ribbon isn’t just for your invitation suite! Hold together your wedding program with ribbon, or add a bit to your dinner menus or escort cards.
