Hello! I’m Sarah Brown! I’m a Midwest girl, born and raised in southwest Michigan where I still live today (St. Joseph, Michigan to be exact – right along Lake Michigan!). I’m married to the love of my life, Jake, and am a mom to two adorable children, Abby and Alex. I believe in God and good manners, I treasure family traditions (both old and new), and I’m passionate about beautiful typography and pretty paper. I jump at the chance to host a party for family and friends. And nothing brings me more joy than baking cookies on a Saturday afternoon with my daughter.
I’ve been designing stationery since 2008: working with a range of individual clients and large retailers. While I enjoy the variety of freelance projects, working with custom wedding invitation clients is what truly ignites my creative spark. I love the personal connection most of all ⎯meeting each couple and learning their story. Guiding them through the invitation process and recommending the perfect typeface. Answering their etiquette questions or giving advice on envelope colors (and explaining what exactly an “outer envelope” is). And then there is the paper itself ⎯ being around wedding stationery all day is a paper lover’s dream come true!
Michigan invitation studio
In 2012, I founded Banter & Charm, a Michigan invitation design studio. At Banter & Charm I’m able to bring my love of design and infatuation with paper goods together, offering a full range of letterpress and foil stamped wedding stationery. While my studio is based in Michigan, invitation clients worldwide have worked with Banter & Charm. I also have a collection of birth announcements, party invitations, and holiday cards available in my Etsy shop. I also continue to freelance for Minted, Hallmark, and Zazzle. My work has been featured in Brides magazine, Better Homes & Gardens, HGTV Magazine, and on Style Me Pretty, Oh So Beautiful Paper, and Pizzazzerie.
